About Christine

Hi! I’m Christine.

I’m passionate about words, travel, education, and anywhere these three things intersect.

I’m married to Staffan and mom to Emelie, Peter, and Micah. A few years ago, we decided we wanted our family’s life to be more than a puzzle to solve, trying to get everyone to work, school, activities, or errands and then home again. We sold most of our stuff, left the country (we lived in Sweden at the time), and moved into a travel trailer in the US. Since 2016, we have crisscrossed the United States pursuing our family motto: Simplify, Explore, Learn. Together.

Home Sweet Home!

As if life on the road wasn’t enough of a dream come true, I also make a living doing something I’m passionate about. As a freelance writer and editor, I have the freedom to work wherever the road takes us doing meaningful work that I love.

Experiential learning at its best!

Emelie, Peter, and Micah are homeschooled, though we prefer to call it “road-schooled”. We plan our travels around what they’re learning and plan what they’re learning around where we are so that learning is as hands-on, experiential, and creative as possible. As a former teacher, this is the way I always wished I could teach my students and I’m beyond grateful that we can give our kids this kind of education.

It isn’t all cupcakes and rainbows. Life on the road comes with unique challenges and plenty of ups and downs. And while we love being together as much as possible, it’s not always easy having three lively and spirited kids in a tiny house and trying to work from home. There’s no such thing as a life that’s always easy, and I’m not sure it would be a good thing if there was. But we are beyond grateful to have built a life that seemed like the stuff of fantasy all those years ago when we first dreamed it.

As we try to learn all we can about the world around us, we are also on a journey of faith and learning to follow Jesus more closely. My ministry calling has changed over the years, including being a youth pastor, then a pastor’s wife, and now a writer. I believe that too many Christ-followers are settling for less than the life they are truly called to live, focusing their energy on things that never satisfy them. Faith is an adventure, not simply a creed we recite or a list of rules we follow.

On this site I want to encourage others to take steps toward living that adventurous life they are dreaming might someday be possible, whatever that looks like. I want to provide support and resources to get there, especially if it connects with writing, travel, or education. Thanks for stopping by!
